Spice up your life... with a Turmeric Latte!

Rosa's 2023 recipe for the cafe's turmeric latte, with the spice mix by weight, how we make it with oat milk and honey, and how to make it at home.

A golden turmeric latte in a mug, dusted with cinnamon

First published on our old website on 13 March 2023. The recipe is Rosa's and is unchanged; the paragraphs that made health claims for turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and honey have been removed, because a cafe is not the place to be telling anybody what a drink will do for their body.

Our turmeric latte is a golden milk made with a spice mix we blend ourselves, and it earned its place on the menu the ordinary way: people kept asking for it. It is warm, it is not sweet unless you make it sweet, and it suits the sort of afternoon where coffee is one cup too many.

What goes in it

Turmeric, ginger and cinnamon, ground and mixed by weight, whisked into hot oat milk with a spoon of honey. That is the whole thing. The oat milk is the version we serve, and it works with dairy just as well at home.

The recipe

To make your own turmeric latte mix, combine:

  • 200g of turmeric
  • 25g of ginger
  • 25g of cinnamon

Mix well and store in an airtight container.

To make a turmeric latte, add 1 flat tsp of the turmeric mix to 12oz oat milk and 1 tsp honey. Heat in a pan whisking all the time until it is nice and hot. Then pour into your favourite mug and dust with a sprinkling of cinnamon to finish. Enjoy this beautiful and nutritious drink. We promise you won't be disappointed.
