Christmas at The Forbidden Corner
The Forbidden Corner near Middleham opens on weekends to 20 December, with a grotto and a Christmas quiz trail round the gardens from 21 November

The Forbidden Corner, the folly garden at Tupgill Park near Middleham, stays open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 November to 20 December before it closes for the winter. From 21 November to 20 December those weekends carry its Christmas programme.
In the Forbidden Grotto, children meet Santa, Mrs Claus and Peppermint the Elf. Around the gardens there is a Christmas quiz: find the hidden clues, finish the trail and hand the sheet in at the end of the visit for a draw to win a return family ticket.
Tickets must be booked ahead: adults 19, over-60s 18, children 4 to 15 17, and a family of four 66. The gardens close earlier than in summer because of the light, so the attraction asks visitors to check times before booking. It is about fifty-five minutes from Thirsk.
