Steam, ghosts and half term on the Moors Railway

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs Sir Nigel Gresley from Pickering, an adults-only ghost train, and trick or treating at three stations over half term

Pickering is about fifty minutes from Thirsk, which makes the Moors Railway a full day out rather than an afternoon. In October it has three things on.

Sir Nigel Gresley, the A4 locomotive named after its designer, runs return trips to Grosmont from 17 to 20 October, 150 years after his birth. Mad Alice's Ghost Train is an evening ride for ages 14 and up. Over half term the stations put on trick or treating, and one child travels free with each paying adult.
