Ripon Christmas lights switch-on and New Year's Eve
Ripon City Council's Christmas lights switch-on on the Market Square on Saturday 14 November, and its New Year's Eve evening on the square on 31 December
Ripon City Council switches on the city's Christmas lights on the Market Square on Saturday 14 November. The afternoon starts at 1pm with fair rides, a Santa's grotto, face painting, magic shows and characters including the Grinch, live music runs from 3pm to 6pm, and the lights go on at 5pm. Ripon is about twenty-five minutes' drive from Thirsk.
The council also holds a New Year's Eve evening on the Market Square on Thursday 31 December, with the band Aftersun booked to play from a stage on the east side of the square. Times for that night are not out yet.
