North Yorkshire Council's highways team is repaving the footway on the southern side of the Market Place, between the Three Tuns and Castlegate, from Monday 26 October. It is the second phase of the council's work on the square's pavements.

The work moves along in sections between 7.30am and 4pm, starting at the Three Tuns, with signs ahead of it. Pedestrian access to the shops and businesses is kept open. On 27 November the site is cleared and made safe for Christmas, and the work starts again in the new year.
