Thirsk keeps Remembrance Sunday on 8 November this year. Last year the parade started at St Mary's Church on Kirkgate and marched with the Thirsk Royal British Legion Band to the Sowerby War Memorial, for two minutes' silence at 11am, a short service and the laying of wreaths.
This year's times and route have not been published yet, so treat last year's as a guide until the parish or the Legion confirms them. St Mary's is about six minutes' walk from the Market Place.
We open at nine that Sunday. Northallerton's service at All Saints Church is the same day, about fifteen minutes away.
