Mince Pie Specials on the Wensleydale Railway
Steam trains on 28 and 29 December and a diesel on 30 December between Leeming Bar, Bedale and Leyburn, with a mince pie and a hot drink on board
Between Christmas and New Year the Wensleydale Railway runs its Mince Pie Specials between Leeming Bar, Bedale and Leyburn. Black Five steam locomotive 45407 pulls the trains on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 December, and diesel 47714 takes over on Wednesday 30 December.
Each day has three return trips. Trains leave Leeming Bar at 10am, 12.20pm and 2.40pm, call at Bedale ten minutes later, and leave Leyburn at 11.20am, 1.40pm and 4pm. Each way takes about forty minutes, with a request stop at Finghall.
Every passenger gets a wrapped mince pie and a tea, coffee or hot chocolate, with a gluten-free mince pie or flapjack instead if you ask, and a Fruit Shoot or water for children. Tickets are day rovers, 25 for adults and 5 for children with a paying adult, and must be booked. Leeming Bar has no car park, so park at Bedale station.
