The room above the cafe takes up to twenty people, and a booking can start at half past eight, half an hour before the cafe opens on a weekday. It has its own door off Thirsk market square, so your group goes straight up from the street.
Through the winter it suits work that wants a long table, a whiteboard and somebody else making lunch. The meeting room page has the slots and the layouts, and we're at 87 Market Place, on the square.
What you can book
Three slots: half eight to half eleven, twelve to four, or half eight to four for the whole day. The room holds up to 20 across the main room and the breakout room, and the breakout room on its own takes 12.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays the main room runs as free co-working from nine to four, so tell us early if you want it to yourselves on one of those days.
The room and the food are quoted together, so ring 01845 523869 for a price. The event space page has the room itself and what is in it.
Ideas for the winter, and the slot that fits
| What you have on | The slot | Food that fits |
|---|---|---|
| A planning day for the new year | Full day | Breakfast when you arrive, a buffet at lunch |
| A training course | Full day, or a morning if it ends at lunch | Breakfast, then sandwiches |
| An interview panel working through a shortlist | Full day | Sandwiches brought up between candidates |
| A board meeting | Morning | Breakfast |
| A client workshop or a committee meeting | Afternoon | Afternoon tea |
| Appraisals | Afternoon | A cake, and the tea brought up |
| The team Christmas breakfast | Morning | Breakfast |
Mornings suit meetings that finish by lunch, afternoons suit workshops and committees, and the full day suits courses and interview panels. The food column is only a suggestion, so tell us what you would like.

The breakout room, for twelve, or for whoever needs to step out.
The breakout room is what makes an interview day or a workshop easier. A group can split off for a call, an interview or a quiet conversation and come back, with the main room left as it was.
How the day runs
You come up from the street by your own door, and the room has its own toilet. The layout is set before you arrive: boardroom, rows, cabaret, a U-shape, or split across the two rooms.
There is an interactive whiteboard fitted in the main room, and free wifi. If you need anything else for presenting, ask before you book, so we can tell you whether it can be done.
Everything to eat is made in the kitchen downstairs and carried up: breakfast, sandwiches, buffets, afternoon tea, and a cake if it is that sort of day. Tell us the numbers and anything dietary when you book.
Thirsk station is about a mile and a half west of the square, and our guide to getting around has the walk, the taxis and the buses.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits a small team with a day's work to do together and no room at the office big enough to do it in.
The published slots finish at four. An evening or a weekend is a question to ring about, and we will give you a straight answer. More than twenty people will outgrow the room, and anything for presenting beyond the whiteboard is worth asking about first.
The room is upstairs, and step-free access has not been confirmed, so we will not claim it. If anyone coming needs it, ring 01845 523869 before you book and we will describe the way in properly.
Booking a winter date
The room takes one group at a time, so each slot goes to whoever books it first. For a December get-together, our Christmas party post has the ideas and the Christmas closures. For January, send us the details the same way.
Send us the date, the numbers and what you would like to eat, and we check the diary and email you back. The payment link for the fifty-pound deposit comes in that email, nothing is charged until we have said yes, and the deposit comes off your bill on the day.
The price is a conversation because the room and the food are quoted together. Send us the details and we will come back with a date and a price.
