Four firework displays sit within half an hour of the Market Place this year, two on Bonfire Night itself, Thursday 5 November, and two on Saturday 7 November. One is built for small children, three are free, and three of the four light a bonfire.
Checked 5 October 2026 against each organiser's own page. All four are on what's on in Thirsk, and we're at 87 Market Place, where every drive time below starts.

Thursday 5 November
Fireworks at the Farm at Monk Park Farm, near Bagby, is the one for small children. It runs from 5pm to 8pm, with a bonfire and then low-bang fireworks set to Disney music, so the noise that puts under-fives off a big display is turned down. Around it there are carnival games, marshmallow toasting, street food, a bar and the Animal Barn. It is ticketed, booked through the farm, and it is the same farm as the pumpkin festival, which we wrote up for October.
Northallerton's bonfire and fireworks is the big one. The town council has run it at the Applegarth car park for more than fifty years, it draws over 8,000 people, and it is free. The council has not published times yet; it posts updates on its Facebook and Instagram nearer the night.
Saturday 7 November
Bedale Fireworks in Bedale Park starts with food and entertainment from 5.15pm, and the display itself begins at 7pm and lasts about twenty minutes. There is no bonfire this year: the council and its volunteers took it out to give the crowd more room. It is free, with stewards taking a bucket collection for next year's display, and novelty torches and lights are available on the night for children to add to it. Park on the Market Place or in Bedale's two car parks, never on the bypass.
Masham's bonfire and fireworks at Shooting Holme is run by volunteers on donations, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The bonfire is lit at 6.15pm and the fireworks start at 7pm, and Masham's pubs are open to warm you up afterwards.
The Yorkshire end of the story
Guy Fawkes was born in York in 1570 and baptised at St Michael le Belfrey, beside the Minster, so the night has a Yorkshire start whatever display you pick.
Getting there
All four need a car, or a taxi from the rank by the clock on the square. Monk Park is down narrow country lanes with no pavement, so allow longer on a dark November evening than the ten minutes it takes in daylight. Our guide to getting around has the taxi number.
Worth knowing before you go
These are all outdoors in November, after dark. Wrap up properly, and take a torch for the walk back to the car. Bedale allows assistance dogs only and Monk Park Farm takes registered guide dogs only, and fireworks frighten most dogs anyway, so for a dog the kindest Bonfire Night is a quiet one at home. If the weather is foul and you would rather stay in town, our guide to a wet day in Thirsk has six places within five minutes of the square.
Where we fit
We close at four on both days, so we are the late lunch or the cake before you set off. The menu has real hot chocolate for the children, and soup for anyone who wants something warm in them before an hour in a field. If there are six or more of you, book a table.
