Ladies' Day at Thirsk Racecourse is the dress-up fixture of the season. The next one is Saturday 4 September 2027, the second-to-last meeting of the sixteen, with the season finale following on Monday 13 September. Tickets for 2027 are expected to go on sale at the start of December 2026, and a new Premier Enclosure grandstand should be open by then.
We are twenty minutes' walk from the course, which is the same answer we give for any race day. What is different about this one is that a lot of people are not just getting there, they are getting ready first: hair, outfits, a proper breakfast before a long afternoon on your feet.
Get ready with us first
The room above the cafe has its own entrance off the street and its own toilet, so a group can get dressed, do hair and take the photos without an audience, then walk straight to the course from here. Breakfast comes up from the kitchen downstairs, there is wifi if anyone needs to check the card before you go, and the interactive whiteboard is there if you want the day's runners up while everyone finishes getting ready.
A smaller group fits the breakout room, which is usually free or a small charge depending on what you want feeding. A bigger party can have the whole room, up to 20: ring us and we will quote the day around the food rather than charge for the room on its own. Either way, the celebrations page has the full detail.
What to wear, and what it costs
We are not going to repeat gate times, ticket prices or dress code rules here, because a racecourse's own numbers belong on the racecourse's own page, not copied onto ours and left to go stale. Thirsk Racecourse's fixtures and tickets page has the enclosures and the current prices.
At Thirsk you wear what you like, even on its biggest social fixture of the year. That is part of the character of the place: a proper race card, run at its own pace.
Timing it right
We close at 4, same as every Saturday, so we are the start of the day rather than the end of it. Come for breakfast, get ready, and leave with time to spare rather than racing the clock as well as the horses.
Book the room ahead
It is a Saturday, and Saturdays go first. If a few of you want the room before Ladies' Day, ring sooner rather than later so we can hold the morning for you.
If you would rather just call in for breakfast on your own and get ready at home, that works too. Either way, we will be open from half eight.
